McCrae & McCrae Ltd was established in August 1985, 34 years ago when Rod McCrae, formerly of United Auctions, Perth, and his father, formerly Farm Manager for Dupplin Estate, Perth, started up in business.

The team includes Managing Director Rod McCrae and solicitor Lorna Kennedy.

One of McCrae & McCrae's core businesses is pursuing compensation claims. They are chasing over 200 annual water and gas pipeline compensation claims (including 30 claims on the new Irish Gas pipeline in Kirkudbrightshire). They are pursuing several hundred claims on the M80, M8, Kirkintilloch, Forth Bridge M90 roads and the Airdrie-Bathgate railway lines, together with the Dunfermline Flood Prevention Scheme and the Beauly-Denny pylon line. This work and historical claims give McCrae & McCrae excellent grass roots contacts for estate agency.

McCrae & McCrae were one of the first companies to lot properties for sale. During and after the 'credit crunch' other selling agents stopped 'lotting' properties for sale because it's complicated and hard work but McCrae and McCrae have continued doing it. For example, the sale of Meiklebeath Farm of 160 acres in six lots of bare land secured twice the sale proceeds compared to selling it as farmland. It's worth the extra effort to secure the highest possible price. McCrae & McCrae offer a professional estate agency service and have a comprehensive list of prospective purchasers and use personal contacts, as well as a computerised estateware package, to link sellers with potential purchasers. They also subscribe to the UK's number one online property advertising portal Rightmove and Zoopla website to assist in selling property efficiently.

Rod McCrae started up the property search facility about ten years ago where McCrae & McCrae help prospective purchasers to source a property to buy or lease.

McCrae & McCrae are planning consultants. They secure planning consent for S75 condition equestrian or agricultural houses and log houses on say 20 acres. They secure planning consent for houses to upgrade ruins and seek planning consent for retirement villages as well as sourcing land. They try to secure zoning for strategic development land, in local plans, and option agreements for strategic land.

2018 was a good year for land sales with the company selling four farms, five blocks of farmland and 20 country houses. The house plot sales picked up with 30 development sites selling at prices from £50,000 a plot up to £142,000 or £250,000 for a plot and 10 acres. McCrae & McCrae had a good range of multiple development sites with three 50 plus house sites selling well (West Linton, Saline, Crossgates and Burntisland) with demand increasing partly due to the Government assisted first time mortgage scheme for houses up to £200,000.

2019 looks like being McCrae & McCrae's best year in 34 years. Recent deals include a 170 house site sale at Bo'ness, 10 house sales, 22 plot sales and 5 land sales.
